We fire a gas reduction kiln to cone 10 for functional ware, an electric kiln for glazing tests and small batches, and a wood-fired anagama once a year for special pieces. The anagama firing is a three-day, round-the-clock event. Everyone in town knows when it happens because of the smoke.
The studio is open to visitors most days. If the sign is flipped, come in.
Center clay, pull a cylinder, make a bowl or a mug. No experience needed. You will leave with something you made. We fire and glaze it; pick up in two weeks or we ship it.
Two full days of slab, coil, and pinch techniques. Build a set of plates, a planter, or a sculptural piece. Intermediate-friendly but beginners welcome.
Mix glazes from raw materials, test on tiles, and apply to bisqueware. Learn about cone temperatures, oxide colorants, and surface chemistry. Bring your own pieces or use ours.
One-on-one or small group (up to 4). Wheel, hand-building, or glazing. Good for dates, birthdays, or anyone who wants focused instruction.
